What does a college advisor actually do?
A college advisor helps a student build a personalized college list, plan out extracurriculars and course rigor, brainstorm and revise essays, build a resume, and do a final review of applications before submission. The goal is guidance and structure, not taking over the process for the student.
When should my student start working with a college advisor?
Most families start junior year, but starting sophomore year gives more time to build a strong foundation around extracurriculars and course selection. We offer a sophomore add-on option for families who want to start earlier.
Do you offer college advising outside of Dunwoody or Atlanta?
Our college advising is in-person and based in Dunwoody, serving families throughout the greater Atlanta area.
What's included in an advising package?
Every package includes an assessment of the student's strengths and interests, recommendations for extracurriculars and summer programs, resume and activity list building, college list development, major and program guidance, essay brainstorming and revision, and a final application review.
How are the advising packages different from each other?
Packages are built around the type of schools a student is targeting: Georgia schools like UGA and Georgia Tech, out-of-state DI schools like Auburn and Alabama, or highly selective schools like the Ivy League and Vanderbilt. Each level reflects the amount of guidance and essay support typically needed for that tier of school.
Do you help with essays?
Yes. We help with essay topic brainstorming, structure, and multiple rounds of revision to make sure the final essay genuinely represents the student.
